Weddings are in the air! A few weekends ago, I attended the engagement party of a close friend at a downtown bar. Since I was wearing a cobalt blue dress (the same dress I wore the weekend before to the medical dinner – yes I know, but there were different people at this party!), I wanted my makeup to be special but not overwhelming.
Can you believe I spent 90 mins curling my hair? Not a hour later, and it’s pin straight again!
To achieve this look, here’s what you need:
EYES: Bright gold colour (MAC Goldmine), medium peach brown (Urban Decay Chopper), dark bronze colour (Urban Decay Smog), pale white gold (MAC Ricepaper), pale gold shimmer (Bella Pierre Champagne), matte brown eyeliner (Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Sepia Ink), black mascara (Max Factor False Lash Effect).
FACE: Foundation (MAC Studio Tech NC43), Concealer (MAC Studio Sculpt NC42), Corrector (Bobbi Brown Corrector in Dark Peach), Highlight (MAC Ricepaper), Peach pink blush (MAC Peachykeen)
LIPS: Bright coral pink lipstick (Chanel Hydrabase in 104 Inspiration).

To get the look, here’s what to do:
EYES: Prime the eyelids, then pat down the peach brown colour (Urban Decay Chopper) onto the entire lid as a base. Take the bright gold (MAC Goldmine) and apply to the centre of the lid with a flat brush. Apply the bronze (Urban Decay Smog) to the outer 1/3 of the lid and crease with a fluffy shader brush. Use an angled shader brush to bring this colour just above the crease. Use the pale white gold colour (MAC Ricepaper) as the brow highlight colour and use this to soften the edges of the dark bronze colour. Apply this same colour to inner tear duct and blend into the gold on the eyelid. Use a damp flat shader brush to apply the gold sparkle pigment (Bella Pierre Champagne) to the inner corner of the eyelid and the tearduct. Line the upper and lower 2/3 of the lashline with brown gel eyeliner (Bobbi Brown Sepia Ink). Apply the pale white gold colour (MAC Ricepaper) to the remaining 1/3 of the lower lashline. Curl lashes and apply mascara.
FACE: After moisturising, take a stippling brush and apply cream foundation (MAC Studio Tech NC43) beginning from the middle of the face and moving outwards. Use a clean dry sponge to blot the excess foundation and blend. Apply corrector (Bobbi Brown Dark Peach) and concealer (MAC Studio Sculpt NC42) where required. Set foundation and concealer with loose powder. Using an angled blush brush, sculpt blush colour (MAC Peachykeen) just under cheekbones and on the apples, and pull colour up towards the hairline. Highlight using a pale white gold colour (MAC Ricepaper) along the cheekbones.
LIPS: Prime lips with emollient lip balm. Apply lip colour (Chanel Hydrabase in 104 Inspiration) and blot excess.
Using neutral shades doesn’t mean your look is boring – it just means you want to let your outfit steal the show and your face to complement it. This look will work for every occasion and it is quite foolproof. Give it a try!
Just thought I’d throw in that photo for posterity 😛
